Thursday Rain Update: Southern Storm Track And More Showers Tonight

Maryland Weather
Severe Weather
Forecast

Thursday March 24 2022

Mid Day Report

At 11 AM,  I compared the actual radar to the plot from the short range HRRR Model. It has performed well with tracking the line of heavy rain across Southern Maryland and Delmarva. There have been some embedded lightning strikes and boomers.

Surface Weather at 11 AM

This is part of the complex storm system crossing the eastern US. Yes, this is the remains of the severe storm system that erupted from Texas to the Gulf Coast earlier this week. It is running its course and weakening, but still has some energy to push out.

Below is a look at the final push of developing showers in the mountains that is expected to reach central Maryland tonight.

Snap Shots at 11 AM

Local Doppler Radar

The line of heavy rain has clipped Southern Maryland and The Lower Eastern Shore. Some lighting was identified south of Cambridge… Salisbury, Pocomoke City, Southern Delaware to the beaches remain under the influence though the day.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
