Friday March 18

Morning Report

There was a full moon at 3:18 AM, which may provide a unique view for some early risers. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for most of our region. Visibility is down under a mile for most, but under 1/2 mile in some spots that may be difficult for travel.  But this is low level moisture, so moonlight and eventually sunlight will make it bright above.

The sky will turn sunny and this afternoon will be warm, then we turn our eyes to the Severe Storm Risk from the south to reach us tomorrow.

Saturday Storms?

Severe Storm Risk

NOAA has enhanced this threat to our north in central PA.  I still believe this may be expanded to central Maryland. Explore more on this in my prior report.

Radar Simulation

12 AM Saturday to 8 AM Sunday

Showers in the morning, then afternoon storms. This product has been underplaying the storm flare up, but I expect other close range models to show it as we get closer.

Sunday morning will bring snow back to western Maryland and colder winds for the rest of us.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
