Sunday March 13

Morning Report

If your morning was anything like mine, then perhaps it went something like this: I woke up in a daze. I checked my clock, phone, and watch… Then my computer. All showed the same time, but I still didn’t trust it.  So many things are automated, but I still wasn’t sure if they autoupdated the clock change or not.  It was dark early, and one other thing to add to my personal confusion, but I will address that later today. It’s been a unique few days for my wife and I, that’s for sure.

Then I had to check the calendar.  Yes, it’s mid March and we just had a snow and wind storm blow through. Lat week we were talking about record highs in the 70s.  Well, give it just another day or two and it will feel like Spring. I promise.

Morning Set Up

Surface Weather

A winter air mass has reached the entire East Coast.  Very cold this morning, with gusty winds.  A clipper in the Great Lakes may still bring one more round of snow showers inland later this afternoon..

But across the south central US is our next weather pattern: A Spring Warmup is on the way (to the rescue).

Morning Temperatures

Wind Chills

We still have to factor in the winds all morning and afternoon.

Reminder, anything that was wet ending the day yesterday may have frozen. If it was treated, this is should be OK. Main roads should be passable, but be on the lookout for ‘black ice’ on overpasses, walkways, and steps.

Snow Showers Or Flurries?

That southern edge of that clipper may bring some additional flakes to the Western Maryland mountain… and the inland hill along the MD/PA line.  No accumulation is expected.

Reminder that we may have a brief flurry or snow shower for the inland hills after 4 PM.

Much of the week ahead will look like Spring is finally here.

I am OK NOT talking about snow for a while and preparing for The Flip Flop Army to march on…

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
