January 29 Weather Windy And Colder Then Maybe Snow Showers Wednesday
January 29 2024
Monday Morning Update
After the wild swing from the last few days, we are due for a break. The record heat and widespread fog were then met with rain and some local flooding… not including the tears around Baltimore from the Ravens loss. Now we watch the old storm depart from the coast of Maine and colder winds settle in.
Otherwise, there is not much showing up on the weather map across the nation… for now. There will be a quick-moving clipper that may bring us snow showers or flurries on Wednesday morning, then back to more quiet to end the week.

Morning Surface Weather
As the storm departs New England, colder winds will move in today. The next weather system is north of the border in Canada, but otherwise, much of the middle of the US is quiet.
Wind Forecast 8 AM to 8 PM
Strong winds from the North and Northwest will build up during the morning and into the afternoon.
Snapshot 3 PM
Winds will average between 15 and 25 mph, with some locally higher gusts.
Afternoon Temperatures
Wind Chill
It will feel like the 30s.

Wednesday Morning
It may be just out of reach for us, but the upper-level energy will attempt to develop snow showers or flurries in the mountains. Since this product has a tough time with the lighter precipitation, I want to consider some flakes crossing east of the mountains into metro areas.
7 Day Outlook
Back to seasonal temperatures and mostly a quiet week. The chance of flurries or snow showers on Wednesday morning will be slight. The rest of the week at this time is looking quiet.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
