Saturday Morning Update
We remain in the very warm and increasingly humid set up. A subtle boundary is identified on the weather map as a cold front this morning, but it is not cold on the other side. Just a little cooler and less muggy.
That boundary was over the Chesapeake Bay yesterday… If you are on my Facebook Page, then maybe you saw my update about the TVS. A Tornado Vortex Signature popped up in the path of a group boat ride I was on.
It was a lone cell, but very powerful for those in its path. It also only lasted about an hour.
This is the danger we have for a few more days… Most of us remain dry, but those that do get cells, have the possibility of reaching severe limits.
Today the focus will shift to the beaches during the early afternoon. Expect possible storms around Ocean City to Rehoboth between 1 PM and 4 PM. See the radar simulations below.
About That Boat Ride….
With the help of my friends: Walter George from Annapolis Boat Sales, Harley Magden from Window Nation, and Larry Rogers (Maryland Trek Crew Chief and Mid Atlantic Aerial) we gathered a few “Dad’s” of kids honored in recent Maryland Treks. Our photo was taken at sunset with the Bay Bridge in the background… but the sun was off to the right behind low horizon clouds.
This was a great time for them to connect and relax with the common thread of having kids go through cancer treatment.
Two of the dads have lost their daughters. There is a bond they had before they even met. Today, they are new friends just ‘there’ to support each other.
This is one of the proudest parts of our organization Just In Power Kids … Connecting families with each other for additional support.
Big THANKS To These Guys for helping me pull this off

About Those Storms
Compare Three Models… I have been showing you the HRRR and NAM 3 Km as staples for short range radar simulations. I am now adding in the WRF-FV3. I believe there have been some tweaks to this model, that show signs of progress. So I will be putting it on display and see if it holds our interest.
Radar Simulation Comparison
I wanted to show the consistency of placing storms around the beaches between 2 PM and 6 PM.
HRRR Model
Beach storms flare up between 3 PM and 6 PM.
WRF FV3 12 PM to Midnight
Beach storms flare up 2 PM to 6 PM.
NAM 3 Km 2 PM to 10 PM

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:
I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
I do miss mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.
All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.
I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…
It’s part of my charm.
