Saturday Morning Report
What if I told you that we will have a day with less wind, to the point where it might not be noticeable. Then I remind you that it is NOT April Fools Day anymore and it is a weekend?
The most common weather comment I have seen recently has been about the seemingly relentless wind. Many think that it’s stronger and worse than ever. However, I recall getting that complaint for years, even going back to 2000 when there was reference Y2K.
So each year I hear we have excessive wind, and I wonder if it’s just windy and we forget about the past with little to no reference.
This has been brought up on Twitter where someone has been persistent to say the least about pointing out wind to me, and I finally referred them to ask The National Weather Service. Here is what happened:
I have already given my answers often, so I stayed out of this… but you can see that NWS does NOT actively focus on wind comparison, but there is data for anyone hungry enough to do a deep statistical dive.

I apologize for the confusion yesterday about the Sunday forecast. There was an error in the high temp. It will NOT stay in the 30s. We should reach the mid 50s after morning rain, the wind returns.
Western Maryland will remain in the 30s with snow.
Next week, two systems bring periods of rain.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:
I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell. I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.
All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.
I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…
It’s part of my charm.
