Monday Afternoon Update

It happened again!  The official Baltimore weather station at BWI reported 79ºF at 2 PM, marking a new high temperature record for the date.  The old mark was 76ºF in 1974.  We are closing in on 80ºF, and might reach that before the rain arrives.

For conversation sake, the earliest calendar date for 80 degree temperature in Baltimore was February 25th in 1930.

Temperatures At 2 PM

Observations at BWI

We have a Wind Advisory and have already had a gust of 48 mph. That occurred at 11:58 AM, as seen at the bottom of this chart.

Winds may still may push harder with the rain and cold front passing through this evening.

WIND ADVISORY

Wind Forecast:

Direction will change form Southwest to to Northwest this evening.  Possible peak gusts along the cool front this evening. The winds should ease by Tuesday morning as the cold air settles in.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
