Saturday Morning Update
Do you remember when we had all of those weekends with rain lasting for months? I bet many of us would like one of those now, but we will not have it. The drought is worth a mention while we get to enjoy very nice weather this Father’s Day weekend.
There is a new air mass with gusty winds that is in place today. Those winds will keep our temps moderate but may bring in some smoke at high levels again. Down here on the ground, just a nice weather pattern but further drying out the soil… especially for places that missed out on the rain yesterday.
The storm system we had yesterday is moving off the coast. It is still bringing rain and storms to New England and will continue to travel east.
The winds around this storm AND the High-Pressure building in from the Great Lakes are why we expect to build up the breeze today. This will help to reinforce the cooler air from Canada. It may bring in more smoke at high levels as well.
Instead of a deep blue, the sky may turn milky white, but the smoke should not be noticed at lower levels like last week.
The breeze will be steady at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph+ at times.
Seasonally warm and comfortable. The sun will feel warm, but the breeze will counter that.
If you’re a guitar player, you might want to invest in a guitar humidifier in the dry weather months.

That rainy pattern for next week looks to be suppressed to our south. The Southeast US has been hit with severe weather and flooding. They continue to be in the path for more.
We may have mountain showers Monday night and Tuesday. But after that, the rain outlook for the Mid Atlantic is bleak.
Once again we remain neutral, resulting in near normal temps. There is a trend to bring in cooler air again next weekend. This is not cold, but might end up a few degrees below average again. Maybe, just maybe we can get some rain next weekend.
Overall the pattern seems to remain the same. No organized rain and no heat waves. This continues to be pleasant for outdoor activities but not for growing.
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos, and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes, and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it: I have dyslexia, and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing, and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor that can check my work when I needed it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos, when she is able. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm.
