October 11 Weather Increasing Clouds From Southern Storm Next Rain Arrives Saturday
October 11, 2023
Wednesday Morning Update
At first glance, I believe we are getting a preview of an active start to winter. The weather map is active. At this time we are between weather systems with the larger upper-level Low to our North and a larger surface storm to our South based in the Gulf of Mexico.
While we get the squeeze play and only clouds from this event. The next storm will reach us over the weekend.
I am working to time out the rain on Saturday for many outdoor events. This will develop in the morning and is more likely to dominate during the afternoon.
Morning Surface Weather
High Pressure has provided us with a mostly clear start to the day. A larger storm based in the Gulf of Mexico will expand and spread clouds north. That may be all we get from this event here in the Mid Atlantic… Clouds later today.
Satellite Loop
Overcast skies have spread into Southern Virginia. We will watch this spread into central Maryland during the afternoon.
Cloud Forecast: Noon to 8 PM
Snapshot 4 PM
Clouds are expected to take over our sky mid-afternoon.
Temperatures
The 70-degree mark will expand to more of the region again.

Looking Ahead: Next Weekend
Friday Morning to Sunday Morning
Rain will develop during the day on Saturday and last into Sunday morning.
I would plan for rain to develop on Saturday with showers on Sunday. I can lock on specifics and realize the importance.
Saturday events include:
- Baltimore Running Festival: 11,000 Runners
- River Valley Run: The final event for this ruling festival.
- Seagull Century: 100-mile cycling event.
Snapshots
Saturday Morning
Showers will be developing. This is when the three events I listed above will be underway.
Saturday Afternoon
Rain will be expanding. Pockets of moderate to heavy rain are possible.
Saturday Wide View
This storm may redevelop off the coast, which may lead to a lengthy duration of cool and unsettled air behind the storm.
7 Day Forecast
Rain on Saturday will expand in the afternoon and evening. It may last into Sunday morning, then scattered showers in the afternoon and lasting through Tuesday.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm.
