Friday Morning Update

Another nearly perfect weather day to end the week, however, it will not last all weekend. We are NOT expecting a washout, but there will be an increase in winds from the ocean that will bring in more clouds and eventually rain later on Sunday and Monday.

Beach plans will be chilly and damp. Backyard party plans will be mostly dry, until Sunday night.

Pool plans… perhaps the kids will be brave to get in, but most watering holes will be chilly.

VIDEO: In case you missed it…

I shared this video of a Dust Devil that formed in Frederick, MD on Wednesday. This was in a parking lot around 3:30 PM and captured by Krista Novak.  Simply put, a warm pocket on the ground helped force rising air, and the surrounding setup forced the air in to replace it rapidly. Winds often reach 60 mph, with heights up to 100 Ft.

Temperatures at 6 AM

Check out the CHILL! Many are starting the day in the 40s to lower 50s… with slightly milder weather around the cities and Bay/Ocean shore.

Morning Surface Weather

We continue this pleasant weather with High Pressure building in from the North. Temps will be below average but will be pleasant with sunshine.

The storm along the Southeast US will slowly move up to the Carolinas. In between these two systems, we will increase our winds from the East over the weekend. That is why we expect more clouds and cooler temps.

Afternoon Temperatures

Still pleasant with sunshine, blue skies, and a light breeze.

Rain Forecast: Friday Morning To Memorial Monday

The storm will move inland and lose organization. However, it will still have moisture and onshore winds that will help bring rain into our region later on Sunday and Monday.

Snapshots:

Saturday

High Pressure will be in control to the north, that is the reason this storm will be slowing down and get pushed inland. Clouds will be advancing from the south, but remain sunny to the north.

Sunday

This will be our coolest and most windy day. The rain will move in later in the afternoon and evening FROM THE SOUTH! Wetter at the beaches and in southern Maryland. However, it will remain dry NORTH and WEST of Baltimore into Southern PA.

Memorial Day Monday

The chance of showers will remain. If this plays out, it will be more wet in the morning and break up in the afternoon… Still not the best holiday weather.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos, and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes, and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it: I have dyslexia, and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing, and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.  There has been no editor that can check my work when I needed it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos, when she is able. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm.
