Last 8 PM Sunset In Baltimore For This Year: More Key Sun Times And NASA Video Simulation On Other Worlds
Tuesday August 16 2022
Today marks a date on the calendar specific to Baltimore with respect to the sun, and I wanted to highlight a few additional key dates coming up.
This evening the sun will set at 8 PM, the last time in that hour for the rest of the year. This has always been a time for me that signals summer is coming to an end, and fall is fast approaching. This is will become more noticeable as we lose 2 minutes and 15 seconds of daylight today, and that accelerates each day through next month.
Below is a chart of the sunrise, sunset, and day length times through September, plus a few dates that jump out.
Also for fun, I’ve included videos from NASA of the sunset and sunrise as would be viewed on different worlds in our solar system. It’s pretty cool.
Note: The numbers here are for Baltimore, as a central reference point in our region. You can always find them in the Current Conditions Tab on the right and click the Sun Window for more info.
For reference, today’s sunset times across the region:
Ocean City =7:52 PM (8 minutes earlier)
McHenry/Deep Creek = 8:11 PM (11 minutes later)
*Yes, the sunset times are 19 minutes apart across Maryland.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:
I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
I do miss mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.
All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.
I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…
It’s part of my charm.
