Thursday Morning Update

We are now in the thick of it now!  A very warm start is a signal to what we have in store today.  Cranking up the heat and humidity just enough to trigger a Heat Advisory for parts of our region today where the Heat Index may reach up to 105ºF (What it may feel like).

The one caveat is a weak trough that may ignite some thunderstorms early afternoon that could cool down areas in central and Southern Maryland. This will flare up over Delmarva and the beaches later in the afternoon and evening.

Tomorrow we get a brief break in the humidity, then back into more heat over the weekend. There is relief in sight for next week.

Heat Advisory

This is mainly for areas EAST of I-95 where it may ‘feel like’ up to 105ºF with the heat index. Actual temperature should remain in the 90s.

This Morning

Morning Temperatures

Yes, temps starting in the 80s for Baltimore and parts around The Chesapeake Bay!

Satellite Loop 4 AM to 6 AM

Some morning clouds signal that disturbance… Which is where we should watch for storm formation by mid day and early afternoon.  More energy farther south!

Afternoon Storms

Here is the NAM 3 Km showing a cluster near and east of Annapolis.

I believe there is a flaw in the modeling displaying later and less activity.

So I wold watch any time from Noon to 2 PM along Rt. 50, possibly including near Washington and Annapolis, then across Delmarva and the Beaches during the afternoon to early evening.

7 Day Forecast

The heat AND Humidity will surge back this weekend. This is typically the hottest time of the year, but we are late in experiencing our first heat wave this summer.

The worst should be over the weekend. By early next week we will introduce more storms and take the temps down a little.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
