Thursday Morning Update
You know that expression “rain or shine”? Well, today we will be challenging the rain, and no matter what the Maryland Trek must go on.
Thank you for visiting here for my weather report. Local weather is below and I plan to continue forecasting all week, but please note my attention is on Maryland Trek 10. My team began Sunday from the summit of Wisp Ski Resort for our week-long journey to Ocean City.
Before the weather, please take a moment to view what our team has been working on this week.

Maryland Trek 10 Day 5
This morning we begin near BWI on our path to the B and A Trail. We plan to go live with Kids Trek Too near noon.
We are honoring a kid in cancer treatment each day and raising money for our free programs at Just In Power Kids. As of this morning, we are closing in on $100,000 towards our goal of $140,000+.
Today’s Power Kid is Bella. Click her photo to see her story.
Today’s Route will be taking us along the B and A Trail in Anne Arundel County where we will meet up with some families (rain or shine) for Kids Trek Too.
When we reach Annapolis we will get on a boat with our friend Walter George to Kent Island and continue on our way.
Weather Briefing
Morning Surface Weather
Low Pressure is moving in from Ohio. The rain will be spreading east and affect western and northern areas of Maryland into PA first.
Our Maryland Trek is traveling south of Baltimore and we are going to keep moving even if and when the rain arrives… Only lightning will delay us.
There is a chance we only have a few hours of rain then it will break up with only scattered showers or storms later in the afternoon. At this point, there is a low risk of anything strong or severe.
Live Radar Widget
Radar Simulation 8 AM to 8 PM
This product is NOT perfect but it is a suggestion. We see the rain earlier west and north of Baltimore.
The bulk of the rain will be between 11 AM and 3 PM. If we get lucky, this will break up in the afternoon with scattered storms to follow west.
Snapshot at 12 PM
The heaviest of the rain will be north and most coverage will be during lunch time.
Afternoon Temperatures
Most areas will remain in the 70s with clouds and rain. Where the rain is more scattered or holds off until later farther south, it will be warmer in the 80s.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes, and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it: I have dyslexia, and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing, and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor that can check my work when I needed it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm.
