September 11 Weather Morning Rain But Ravens At NY Jets Looks Wet
September 11 2022
Sunday Morning Update
After a beautiful start to the weekend, rain moved in last night and is still with us this morning. Rain this morning is heavy in central Maryland. See the live radar weather widget below.
While it does seem soggy, most of the rain locally will be this morning. However, more is expected to develop this evening and tonight.
Today the Baltimore Ravens get the special honor of starting the football season in metro New York on 9/11. Technically the NY Jets will host them in East Rutherford, NJ. Our rain is heading their way, so they will remain wet through the afternoon for the game.
There is one more part to this weather system, which will bring some strong to severe storms with a cold front arriving on Monday Evening.

Before we get into the weather, I just wanted to share a smile. If you do not see my social media (especially Facebook), I am grateful I have a chance to share highlights with you here. This is simply an Elephant Cloud seen from a flight between Alabama and Texas by Ashley Tu.
Morning Surface Weather
Rain this morning does cover a large area, and is locally heavy in central Maryland. See the Live Radar below. This system is not well organized and will be moving to the Northeast. There will be breaks in between, but more showers could pop up in that lull during the afternoon.
The wind flow, high water from Hurricane Earl, and recent Full Moon has kept high water on the Chesapeake Bay. Some Flood Advisories remain today.
The strong cold front to the west will pass through Chicago today and reach us by Monday evening and night.
Local Weather Alerts
A Coastal Flood Advisory remains from Annapolis to the lower Chesapeake Bay. High surf continues for the beaches. This is from a combination of distant Hurricane Earl, wind flow continuing UP THE BAY, and recent Full Moon with astronomical high tide which has not been able to fully retreat.

Radar Simulation: 8 AM to 10 PM
I have noticed issues with these products and timing. So the easy approach to this is morning rain which should break up midday and afternoon. However, there could be pop up showers returning.. mostly likely by evening.
Game Day Rain Snapshot
At 1 PM our local rain will be moving out, but that same cluster will track to the Northeast. This will keep East Rutherford, NJ in the rain for most of the game today.
Ravens at Jets looks wet.
