August 21 More Clouds And Tracking Developing Rain And Storms
August 21 2022
Sunday Morning Update
The guarantee today is for more clouds. That’s the easy part as High Pressure is well off the coast, and a few weak weather systems are approaching from the west and south.
What we get from it, especially in your location is the wild card. If you are in southern Maryland to the Beaches you may end up with much of the day being dry. However, a cooler wind will increase from the East.
If you are in the mountains west or north of Baltimore, then more showers will be around midday through the afternoon.
I do not trust the short range modeling as it has been routinely underplaying showers and storms all summer. So as I show it again, please consider it as a guide only.

Afternoon Wind Forecast
The wind FROM THE EAST will be increasing. That will aid in more cloud cover and could contribute to more showers developing.
On the flip side, as we watch a band of rain from the west, initially there may be a block halting the movement due to this wind. Eventually the forces will converge and increase the storm formation tonight.
Afternoon Temperatures
Urban areas may reach the mid to upper 80s, but most areas will range from the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Showers are more likely inland through the day. If you are around Annapolis and the Bay, it is more likely to stay dry longer… however the east wind will be increasing and cooling you down.
Tropics:
That system in the Gulf of Mexico was a NOTHING BURGER! It never developed and has pushed the energy onshore in north Mexico.
The Atlantic remains unusually quiet.

After morning showers there will be a break in the action. The next push of storms will develop later in the day. Note: This may once again be ‘underplaying’ the potential activity during the afternoon and evening.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:
I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
I do miss mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.
All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.
I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…
It’s part of my charm.
