May 30 Weather Pleasant Week With Rainy Beaches
May 30, 2023
Tuesday Update
The weather will remain quiet for most of our region, however, the beaches will be stuck with the cooler winds and rain showers. As nice as this has been, we may have a brief warm-up to end the week, but the long-range pattern shows cooler air and wet weather next week.
Morning Surface Weather
That small and compact storm is still off the coast. Its impact has been very localized and today that includes Virginia Beach to barely clipping Ocean City, MD.
High Pressure off the coast of New England has remained a constant force protecting most of our region with dry weather and a pleasant breeze keeping the temperatures moderate.
Afternoon Temperatures
Another pleasant day with seasonal temps and a light, comfortable breeze.
Radar Simulation Forecast
Rain showers will remain near the beaches and farther south.

Rain Forecast: Tuesday To Thursday
The upper-level system appears to remain just south of most of our region. The influence of the Ocean Winds will be along the coast.
Snapshot Thursday
Rain showers are more likely each day near and south of Ocean City, MD.
Looking Ahead
The latest model guidance supports a larger chance for rain this weekend. Thunderstorms may expand with a backdoor cold front on Saturday. Then more rain showers could become the norm Monday into next week.
Jet Stream:
Any brief build of heat later this week may get replaced by that back door cold front locking in a deep trough across the Eastern US next week. The core of this cold air looks like it may settle in Maryland.
Snapshot Next Wednesday
This may end up a chilly and wet weather pattern, which may be exactly what is needed if we do indeed build the drought conditions.
7 Day Forecast
We continue the dry weather pattern this week, with the exception of the rain at the beaches.
The pattern may begin to break down this weekend with storms Saturday, then a changing pattern starting next week. We may be talking about a building drought this week and the growing need for more rain… So next week we will optimistically look for rain.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos, and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes, and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it: I have dyslexia, and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing, and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor that can check my work when I needed it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos, when she is able. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm.
