Tuesday Morning Report
We are seeing some light rain beginning to develop behind the cold front. This will be a morning event as temps drop then hold steady. A mix of sleet and snow is more likely north of Baltimore for a couple of hours. No stickage expected.
A second impulse will develop tonight, and at this point, the focus will be near central and, more likely, southern Maryland. The timing will be between midnight and sunrise.
The core of the cold air will arrive this weekend, and then we will warm up again next week.
Colder air is on the move southward.
The cold front is moving through, and the rain is developing behind it. There is snow in western Maryland, which is part of two impulses or waves behind the front. They are producing freezing rain and snow across the Ohio Valley and deep into Texas. That is the wave we will track for tonight.
Light rain will develop and shift south. Briefly, a mix of snow or sleet may fall north of Baltimore.
Numbers will drop midday and hold steady into the afternoon… Central areas remain just above freezing.

The next impulse will arrive between Midnight and Sunrise. At this time, the focus is near Baltimore and SOUTH through southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore/Delmarva.
Supports flurries or light snow from the Maryland and Pennsylvania line southward.
Supports Light Snow in Southern Maryland.
Still dry, with the front farthest south.
Jet Stream: Snapshot Friday
The Polar Vortex will be dislodged to Eastern Canada. That will send in our arctic blast, but like the Christmas event, it will be brief. Then we will warm up again next week.

Two impulses over the next few days, then the really cold air settles in. We could see some flurries with the cold winds, but the core arctic air will be here Saturday. Then we start to warm up AGAIN.
