Thursday Morning Report
If you did not see my social media posts, I drove through the snow zone which validated the expected affected areas inland. In fact this overachieved with 1 to 3 inches and brief midday impact on roads in northern Carroll, Frederick, and York Counties. I will share those images below.
Today will be a windy day behind the storm. This will ignite strong snow squalls in the mountains, and a few flurries may extend east later today.
This weekend will turn mild, with rain Sunday into Monday. Then we look to the middle of next week for a possible storm.
There are colder pockets surrounding these main locations.
The strong storm is moving through northern New England, while a secondary short wave is passing through the Great Lakes. This keeps the pressure gradient steep, resulting in strong winds.
That Mid-West System will help ignite snow showers and could bring flurries east of the mountains later today and tonight.
Gusty winds peak midday
Periods of strong snow squalls in Garrett County, MD and nearby mountains.
That Mid-West impulse may enhance the Streamers off Lake Erie tonight.
I’d watch southern PA, including York County.
Flurries could reach the normally colder inland north central Maryland areas.

This is the more reliable European Model Sunday through Wednesday. Here we see light rain showers on Sunday, and steady rain on Monday.
The next system attempt to bring in snow to central Maryland.
While this is a 7 day forecast, I want to state that the wintry mix we just saw yesterday was first spotted one week earlier. There may be something to this.
This is the plot that may relate to your weather app(s). It also shows a weather ‘event’ but is warmer with the snow farther north.
This weekend will be MILD.
Rain returns with showers Sunday and steady on Monday.
