August 4 Weather Cool And Damp East Yet Turning Hot Inland

Friday Morning Update

The present weather setup has our region split. There have been some showers overnight, and lingering damp weather prevails across Delmarva. There will be more clouds keeping temps cooler from Central Maryland to the beaches. Temps will range from the 70s by the water to the lower 80s.

Inland there will be more sun, where the temps could reach 90ºF.

A line of thunderstorms may arrive tonight, then set up a quiet and warming weekend.

The next storm day should be Monday, followed by a warm and quiet week. That may be great news for my Maryland Trek team as we reach central Maryland next Wednesday and Thursday.

Morning Surface Weather

The split in our region will be best reflected in the afternoon temperatures. This morning there is a damp feel between Central Maryland to the beaches.

Showers may linger today across The Lower Eastern Shore and beaches.

Inland has been dry and will be sunny allowing more heat today.

A cold front to our north will develop thunderstorms that we will watch arrive tonight after sunset.

This morning there is steady rain to our south in SE VA, with drizzle and spotty showers on Delmarva.

Showers may persist to the east, while inland it will be sunny and turning hot.

Tonight thunderstorms will develop to our south AND with a cold front arriving from the north.

Rain and some thunder may redevelop across southern Maryland to the beaches.

This is the reflection of where it will remain cloudy and cooler East vs. sunny and hotter West of the cities.

Continued showers and storms to the south…

That line of thunderstorms from the north should be allowed a buffer… It may arrive across the Pennsylvania and Maryland line between 8 PM and Midnight.

I am in my final preparation for Maryland Trek 10. We roll out this Saturday and our team begins from the summit of Wisp on Sunday. I plan to continue writing a forecast each morning for you and/or our part of the state each day. However, they will be shorter posts due to time constraints. RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes, and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it: I have dyslexia, and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing, and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.  There has been no editor that can check my work when I needed it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm.
