January 27 Morning Flurries Mild Weekend Then Light Rain And Maybe Snow Next Week
January 27 2023
Friday Morning Report
The disturbance I mentioned did produce snow squalls yesterday over the mountains and some flakes did carry east. The squalls have dropped over 4 inches of fresh snow on McHenry, Maryland. Some of the flurries are still moving over the mountains, which we have spotted on Doppler Radar this morning. I want to start with this brief look so you won’t be alarmed if you see them as well.
Headlines
- Today: Morning Flurries; Windy
- Weekend: Mild, Rain Showers Sunday
- Next Week: Snow? A Few Chances
Our weekend will be mild, ending with light rain showers Sunday into Monday. Then we focus on the colder storm track and potential snow… a few hits are possible. At this stage I am simply showing the computer model guidance. I have already seen a shift from my report last night, but it’s not what you think. Check it out…

Storm Outlook
This is the more reliable European Model through Wednesday. Here we see light rain showers on Sunday shifting East on Monday. Then the next ‘system’ trying to produce snow by Thursday. Since my last report, this has shifted to the south and a day later. Please note some change has been expected, and more is likely to ‘adjust’ with the next few runs.
Thursday February 2 Snapshots
This is like Groundhog Day. Once again we have a potential storm that computer model guidance is having trouble locking on to. This track farther south may not hold.
These both show the snow a day later and a focus SOUTH of Baltimore. I am suspicious of this track. If this follows recent errors, it will adjust back north in the next few runs.

GFS Model
7 Day Forecast
This weekend will be MILD.
Rain returns with showers Sunday and steady on Monday.
Next Week Storm? Worth Watching (European Model). The trend however, does show colder air.
