December 27 Start Of Warming Trend And State Of Emergency In Buffalo
December 27 2022
Monday Morning Report
Temperatures are still cold, but getting closer to seasonal and then we will bump above that mark later this week. We can see a signal of turning the corner with the 24-hour Temperature Change for most, in the 10 to 15 degree range. This has brought most area weather stations back to near normal.
By this weekend, our deep freeze will be a memory, but a rain event will bring us a wet New Year’s Eve (at night).
We will take a look at the long range outlook into January and the update on Buffalo Lake Effect Snow Below.

Next Storm: New Year Weekend
Friday Morning To Sunday Afternoon
This rain event is looking more like the second half of Saturday, through Midnight to 2023, but tapers quickly to showers by the morning.
Extended Look: Jet Stream
This longer loop extends to January 8. The GFS model is still trying to generate a storm that will be followed by colder air. I am not locking in on a specific system this far ahead. Also, we tend to have a signal for colder air a little faster than it verifies. I would still plan for the return to winter by the middle of January. So only a week or two of mild air ahead.
7 Day Forecast
Warming up with the storm next weekend.
