Tropical Storm Fiona Formed: Watches Up Then Track To Puerto Rico

Morning Update
We are in the peak of hurricane season and now have our 6th named storm of the season. Tropical Storm Fiona has been outperforming computer model guidance and rapidly developed yesterday. Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for the Leeward Islands of the Eastern Caribbean. The expected path continues through the US and British Virgin Islands then across Puerto Rico.

The majority of models keep this a Tropical Storm. However, there are some models that show Hurricane intensity over this weekend.

The Tropical Storm is expected to reach the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico this weekend.
RAINFALL: Fiona is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 3 to 6 inches with isolated higher amounts across the northern Leeward Islands, the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and eastern Hispaniola. These rains may produce flash and urban flooding, along with isolated mudslides in areas of higher terrain.

While there is a lot that can change in 5 days, this is expected to curve north of Hispaniola and then become more of an interest for The Bahamas and Eastern US.
