September 12 Muggy Morning Strong Storms Afternoon And Evening
September 12, 2022
Monday Morning Update
Today is starting off a bit soupy. There is a lot of humidity in the air with a Dense Fog Advisory inland. However, there are many other areas with fog and drizzle. You may need your wipers on ‘intermittent’ this morning.
A strong cold front will push a line of storms our way this afternoon and evening. I have two model simulations below to compare timing. Behind this, the rest of this week looks quiet.
Local Weather Alerts
- Coastal Flood Advisory remains from Annapolis to the lower Chesapeake Bay. High surf continues for the beaches.
- Dense Fog Advisory inland – however there are areas of fog in metro areas accompanied by drizzle.
- Flood Watch for Central Maryland for heavy rain with storms later today.
Morning Surface Weather
A large circulation over the Great Lakes has a trailing cold front that will move our way today. A line of strong storms is expected to form and affect our area any time AFTER 3 PM.
Morning Temperatures
It is muggy/sticky
Afternoon Temperatures:
There may be some breaks of sun around midday. If you see the sun, this will boost temps and could provide more energy for stronger storms to turn severe.
Radar Simulation Sliders
Do you recall my mentioning the timing is slow (often)? Well, the FV3 model may be on top of it. Compare the timelines here, and I still had to add in a little buffer.
Prepare for storms any time AFTER 3 PM to 10 PM.
There is a chance some storms will turn severe with damaging winds, large hail. and local flash flooding.
