Small Earthquake Near Sykesville Maryland Last Night October 11 2022

Did you feel it? A small earthquake was recorded by the U.S. Geological Survey at 11:49 PM Tuesday, October 11, 2022. It was officially reported just east of Sykesville, Maryland in Patapsco Valley State Park, at a depth of 3.1 miles under the ground.

- 2.5 miles ESE of Sykesville
- 1.25 miles NNW of Marriottsville
It was also measured by the Maryland Geological Survey. Very close to the epicenter, there is a station at Soldiers Delight that recorded it on the Helicorder Record:

This is a small quake and it is normal for a few of this size to occur every year.
