January 15 Chilly Winds Mountain Snow Cam And Next Storm
January 15 2023
Sunday Morning Report
Winds are still a factor today. A developing storm off the coast will be generating snow for the greater Boston area, not for us. However, strong winds continue to get funneled across the Northeastern US.
The winds will keep the wind chill an issue today, but conditions are also good for snowmaking at the ski resorts. The Deep Creek Lake LIVE snow cam is below.
There will be another warm up ahead of the next storm this week, but this may be the last mild week for a while.

This Is Why I Keep Looking For Snow
Yesterday I ran a poll on Facebook, simply asking who saw the flurries.
The excitement was beyond my expectations. This shows that there are a lot of people (besides me) hopeful for the snow season to get started.

Just to satisfy your itch for winter weather. They are blowing snow on the mountain with temps in the Teens!
Morning Surface Weather
Our blustery winds are thanks to a storm forming off the East Coast. That storm is out of reach for us, but is beginning to develop the first significant snow of the year for Boston.
Our winds will be funneled from the north between that departing storm and High Pressure. The winds will ease tonight and tomorrow.
Morning Temperatures
Colder air will arrive by noon and hold steady the rest of the day.

This is the reason for our wind chill!
Strong winds will continue from the North. Steady at 10 to 20 mph with gusts still up near 30 mph.

The storm off the coast is hard to miss. This is the developing system, which will move away. It is going to take the strong winds with it tomorrow… as it has a bigger impact on Eastern New England.
Snow Forecast
If you know someone in Boston, or watch the unveiling of the NEW Martin Luther King, Jr. Monument, there will be a fresh coating of snow on the ground.
Forecasts range from 6 to 12 inches between metro Boston to Cape Cod.

The first system may only bring light rain or drizzle on Tuesday. The second system looks more impressive with heavier rain on Thursday.
I am seeing signals that the storm track will shift after this event.
7 Day Forecast
Temps get a bump for the first half of the week. Of the next two weather systems, the second one on Thursday is expected to bring more rain… then a cool down next weekend. Just off the edge of viewing there is a storm next weekend that will have colder air with it.
