November 4 Fog Advisory: Then Near Record Warm Temps

November 4 2022

Friday Morning Update

It is Fog Season! Especially for places around the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean shoreline. We are in a warm weather pattern, which also increases moisture in the air. Combine that with long nights, and temps drop enough for that to produce thick fog.

We have a warm weekend ahead that may challenge record highs, then cooler by Election Day. The longer range outlook at the bottom of this post suggests when the cold may hold.

Dense Fog Advisory

A Dense Fag Advisory has been issued for southern Maryland, including Annapolis, and for parts of Delmarva! Dorchester County has already posted a school delay. There may be others, however Queen Anne’s County has a half day scheduled that may affect their decision.

Visibility Reports

Thickest fog is on Delmarva, but expanding through southern Maryland. This is in and around Annapolis.

Also pockets of fog inland across Frederick and Carroll Counties in Maryland through southern York and Adams Counties in Pennsylvania.

The fog may continue to expand and thicken through 8 AM, then lift with sun returning for most between 9 and 10 AM.

Morning Surface Weather

The sun will break out and temps will boost up through the weekend and early next week as we challenge record highs.  Contrast that with the snow that just fell in Colorado. Denver had temps near 80ºF just a day before the snow began!  That’s not too rare for them…. A hint of that cooler air will arrive for Election Day, then modify.

A band of rain will try to move in from the west Sunday morning, then fade. So metro and Bay areas might miss on this.

November 4 rain weekend forecast

7 Day Forecast

The record high temps to challenge in Baltimore are shown here.

  • Sunday – 80ºF was set in 2015.
  • Monday – 77ºF was set in 2020 and other years.

Looking Farther Ahead

The following weekend may bring us a larger rain event/storm. That is the pattern changer to bring back much colder air that has a chance to hold.
