Afternoon Update

Say today’s date out loud and then say the word snow.  It’s weird, right?  Now knowing we just had Easter Weekend and talking about I-68 in western Maryland that was shut down for a multi-car accident on snow covered roads sounds even more strange.

The snow was in the forecast, and it is not the latest in the season to get it.  But to have stickage on pavement during the day is unusual.

Below is a quick summary and forecast for what we may expect over the next 12 to 24 hours, including The Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory.

Interstate-68 Snow Accident:

Dave Pribulick sent me his eyewitness view on I-68 this afternoon. It looked like mid-winter. Yes, it seems like the season is off by a month from starting late to now:

PHOTOS

His first message was that roads were terrible and shut down.

Then I got a selfie to prove it, and wanted to give him is due. He did sit in still traffic for 45 minutes.

Farther East and lower in elevation I got this photo, where the roads were just wet. However, the traffic was stopped again on I-68 for another accident.

Definitely a tough day on that road.

Snow and Ice VIDEOS

Here are two videos I posted on Facebook, thanks to my friend Kristin Skeweris. If you missed them, I hope they play on your device along with the report I wrote.

It looks like Garrett County got more ice, with the snow falling farther east.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
