Tuesday Morning Update
We are on the upswing of the classic spring roller coaster. After two mornings with near freezing temps, the afternoons will be surging well above average. Today we read the 70s, then 80s for most areas away from the water (and east to the mountains) for the rest of the workweek.
This weekend will continue the trend for our transition and stormy period. At this point, Sunday looks to be more active and could possibly feature severe storms.
Morning Temperatures
Seasonably cool stats with less 30s on the map.
Morning Surface Weather
High Pressure is dominating most of the Eastern US. Today starts off cool, but will end warmer than the last few. This big warm up will continue all week.
Afternoon Jet Stream
This looks like an Omega Block in the jet stream. The net result for us underneath middle of this is a sustained quiet pattern with a warming trend for the next few days.
Afternoon Temperatures
Getting back to the 70s for most areas away from the water and east of the mountains.

Wednesday Afternoon Temps
While this model is showing 79ºF for Baltimore, we often end up a few degrees warmer. I will be placing lower 80s on my forecast.
Looking Ahead:
Most of this week will be quiet with sunshine and warming temps. The next weather maker will be over the weekend as a cold front approaches.
Storm Animation: Friday Morning To Sunday Evening
As the cold front approaches, we will see more clouds move in on Friday along with a stronger breeze. The chance for showers and storms will build in on Saturday and Sunday.
Snapshot Sunday
The cold front will arrive on Sunday with the potential for strong thunderstorms and an extended period of rain.
While I do not like to specify timing this early in the game, I would simply consider this a wet day and have a plan B for any events you have scheduled.
7 Day Forecast
Most of this week will be sunny, warm, and quiet. The next active time will be over the weekend. Showers may develop on Saturday, but Sunday is more likely to be a stormy day.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos, and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes, and even the computer glitches I may miss.
I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:
I have dyslexia, and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing, and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki and he was absolutely correct!
I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect predicting the future.
All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There has been no editor that can check my work when I needed it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos, when she is able. That could be AFTER you read this.
I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…
It’s part of my charm.
