The heat, humidity, and smoke are about to get swept out of the region by a cold front. This front will ignite some storms that have the potential to turn severe, but as always that is not a promise for your area.
Here is a quick comparison of the set up, radar simulation, and live radar with lightning to compare.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch
Until 8 PM, however once the line crosses, this will be cancelled from west to east.
The Watch means storms could reach levels with winds to 60 mph, hail over 1 inch diameter, and isolated tornadoes. If a storm does start producing that, then a warning will be issued.
Important to note that any storm, even non severe, can produce dangerous lightning.

Sunshine State Of Mind
I am done with the cold and snow (for the season). I am embracing my wife’s mantra of Sunshine State of Mind.
