Forecast

Friday, September 12, 2025

What we have in front of us may not be a surprise. After one of the coolest Augusts and one record low temperature in the past week. The weather pattern is flipping to the other side of the pendulum. A ridge of High Pressure is expanding to take hold for the weekend and into next week.

This will prevent storms and allow temperatures to return to late summer weather.

It has been a while since we have had temps in the 80s back to back, but that is still the average for this time of year.  That is the way it looks with a touch of humidity to boot! This will make the Ravens’ home opener game on Sunday feel a little uncomfortable if you are not acclimated.

Drought Conditions Returning

While there was some rain around Baltimore and the Bay yesterday, most of the region did not get in on that. The continued lack of weather systems has allowed the soil to dry out.

Here is the concern from the National Weather Service:

NOAA Temperature Outlook

The warming trend builds summer heat across more of the nation. This has been expected after the cool-down we experienced at the end of August through Labor Day.

7 Day Forecast

  • Simply a dry pattern to last most of the week ahead!
  • The peak of temps and humidity will be on Sunday.
  • The chance of showers may return on Thursday. This is not a promise as the details get less reliable farther out in time.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I can also make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.  There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
