April 19 Warmest Day Of The Year Comes With Clouds And Gusty Winds
April 19 2025
Saturday Morning Report
We are about to have the warmest day of the year so far, thanks to a large storm system across the Central US. The storm itself will be responsible for a few days of severe storms in the same areas from Texas to the Midwest while pumping up gusty winds again. On the other hand, there is a late-season snowstorm across the Colorado Rockies, including metro Denver.
On this warm side, we will have more cloud cover and still get deep into the 80s.
While it feels like spring is fully in place now, the growing concern for our drought will become more evident. There is very little rain in sight, as we are back to an 11-inch rainfall deficit when including the totals from last year through today.

Surface Weather
A very active weather map with a line of storms and severe risk from Texas to the Ohio Valley. There is even a late-season snowstorm forming near Denver.
For us, the warm flow of air will pump temps up into the 80s AND come with plenty of clouds and gusty winds.
The risk of rain will be limited to our high mountains overnight.
Wind Forecast 8 AM to 8 PM
The wind will increase FROM THE SOUTH again! Like yesterday, this may be strongest later in the afternoon.
Wind Forecast at 5 PM
Gusts will be up to 35 mph for most, but expect gusts up to 45 mph in the mountains.
Afternoon Temperatures
This will NOT be a record, but it will be almost 20 degrees above average.
Radar Simulation Overnight
8 PM Sat to 8 AM Sun
The frontal boundary remains to our west. Rain showers will pass through central Pennsylvania and will drop into the mountains of Western Maryland overnight, mainly while most people are sleeping.
EASTER SUNDAY
Remaining warm and dry. There may still be quite a lot of clouds hanging around.

Storm Forecast Monday to Friday
This outlook is not good if you are concerned about the drought. There is not much rain in sight until Friday.
I have lower confidence in computer model reliability… so this look at rain for Friday I am holding to a 40% chance of verifying.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
