Morning Report

These last few days of summer will be warm and a little humid. The storm that is missing us now remains offshore, sending moisture back to the coast. This will increase the high water at high tide and humidity with the warm afternoons.

Our weekend will start off nice, so make the most of Saturday with a warm day, but showers may arrive late towards evening.

Fall Begins Sunday morning at 8:43 AM, and it will feel like it. Rain is expected to arrive late Saturday night and could bring us a soggy Sunday. This will set us up with a cooler pattern and then more rain later next week.

Coastal Flood Advisory

The extended Easterly Wind will continue to bring some flooding at the times of high tide into the weekend. It may peak on Saturday and Sunday.

Morning Surface Weather

That storm remains nearly stationary well offshore. The circulation around it and a drift back west are expected to help raise the water levels this weekend.

We will get a breeze FROM THE EAST, which is why, with the sun and warm temperatures, it will feel humid.

Monday Through Thursday

The weather pattern will turn more rainy with both an upper-level Low arriving from the Mid-West AND ‘something tropical’ that may be developing in the Gulf of Mexico.

Showers will gradually move eastward later Tuesday. Steadier rain (seen at this time) may arrive on Thursday.

Thursday

It is too early to state how strong the storm in the Gulf will be, let alone if it will be named. It will more than likely send tropical moisture north along the front, feeding rain into our region.

Warm and humid for two more days. Rain into Sunday morning, then turning cooler. A wet weather pattern is more likely next week.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. 

There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
