October 5 Dense Fog Advisory Then Tracking More Showers Later

Forecast

Tuesday October 5

A few rounds of showers and thunderstorms passed through parts of central Maryland late yesterday and into the evening. The added moisture has helped developed thick fog overnight, which has visibility under 1/4 mile. A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued as a result north and west of Baltimore.

That band of storms did cross into Southern PA overnight, where that may be fog as well. However, the NWS Office in PA has not issued an advisory there. But you may encounter some thick fog if you travel there this morning.

Dense Fog Advisory

Morning Surface Weather

Morning Temps: Mostly mid 60s to near 70ºF. It feels muggy to start the day.

Plenty of moisture in place to keep our sky cloudy all day.

For a few days it looked like this week would be rather wet. While we still have a damp wind from the Atlantic to cloud us up, the stimulant in the atmosphere to produce more rain is not as strong. The result will be less showers, but still the risk.

Afternoon Temperatures

Note: Our local Offical recording station at BWI tends to be warmer than models and surroundings.

My 7-Day forecast below is based on this location… So temps for most locations will be a little cooler.

More Showers

HRRR Model 3 PM to 9 PM

Model guidance is now supporting the round of afternoon and evening showers mainly south of Baltimore, along and south of Rt. 50… Including on Delmarva.

Tracking The Rain

Tuesday To Saturday Afternoon

We should remain cloudy today and tomorrow with just a few showers, and morning fog.

It now appears we will get in on the edge of High Pressure carved out in New England. We may not clear completely, but Thursday should be dry, then the risk of showers crawls back in from the mountains.
