Earthquake in Woodlawn Maryland Just west of Baltimore on Friday June 25

At 3:40 PM EDT, a M 2.6 Earthquake was measured by the US Geological Survey. This is a minor quake, but was felt by a lot of people in this densely populated area.

Located 1 mile south of Woodland, near the intersection of Windsor Mill and Security Boulevard.

Depth: 2.5 km, or 1.6 miles below the ground.

57 reports in 24 Zip Codes. The reporting region seems to be confined to metro Baltimore for this minor quake. No damage has been reported and none expected, unless something rattled off a shelf or wall.

Note: There was a Supermoon (Strawberry Moon) yesterday. Some research has suggested a connection to lunar cycles and seismic activity. I have pointed out the connection many times over the years. The theory relates the gravitation pull on magma under the tectonic plates similar to tides.

Correlation is not causation, but I wanted to remind you I have not forgotten if we have discussed it before.

On August 23, 2011 a M 5.8 quake hit Mineral, VA. That was about 10,000 times larger in intensity. That resulted in structural damage to structures in Washington and Annapolis. It was also felt for hundreds of miles.
