Forecast

Tuesday November 25 2025

Thanksgiving week often shows us a storm and this year is living up to expectations. We will have rain move into our region by mid day though the afternoon. If you are traveling by air, you may be affected by the severe storms in the south or the snow in the Northern Plains.

On Wednesday our rain showers will be minimal, but the temps will max out in the upper 60s to near 70F.  A cold front could spark a brief rumble of thunder, followed by the cold air and mountains snow.

Thanksgiving will be COLDER and dry! In fact the holiday will have falling temps with gusty winds. Snow in the mountains of Western Maryland and West Virginia will stick on the roads and may pile up a few inches.

The Ravens Home Game on Thursday night will be CHILLY!  Temps will be in the 30s with wind chills in the 20s.

Friday with the core of the arctic air that may keep many in the region in the 30s.

I am still support that maybe some flurries could fly on Friday with the cold core.

Beyond this, the next event may race in with more rain by Sunday. What did look like a warm up to follow may not verify. Early next week looks to hold on to the cold.

Surface Weather

This complex storm map can be broken into three parts.

  1. The deep south has strong thunderstorms that may turn severe. This is a signal of the energy with the storm system.
  2. Steady rain developing in the Mid West and Ohio Valley is the part that we will get into this afternoon.
  3. Snow in the northern Plains will reach Minneapolis and could affect plane travel. This is followed by the arctic air diving south and will reach Texas today.

NOAA Severe Storm Outlook

BLACK FRIDAY MORNING

I am not sure how many still race to be in line at stores, but I you are one in the aging tradition, this is for you. For what it’s worth, I still drive manual transmission by preference. So I understand hanging on to nostalgia.

My truck has heated seats. If you will be standing outside, it will be cold! Nothing dire, just that we are not accustomed to this yet this season.

This jet streak is aligned to support carrying Lake Effect snow shower over the mountains. At least the moisture may help some snow flurries or a snow shower ready into Central Maryland.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I can also make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.  There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
