November 19 Fog Lingers Today And Next Rain Friday Will Be Followed By A Warm Up Pre Thanksgiving
Wednesday, November 19, 2025
This little storm followed expectations. Moderate rain overnight did produce moderate totals between 0.25 and 0.50” in metro areas. It also produced snow in Central Pennsylvania. In my early morning post on Facebook, I was informed by a resident of State College that local schools have a 2-hour delay and the roads are messy. These conditions are also being felt in the Poconos, with some impact on I-81 through Hazleton and Scranton.
Areas of fog linger behind this system and may be an issue through midday.
The next system will race here on Friday with showers developing in the afternoon and most of the rain falling overnight.
Improvement will follow by Sunday into Tuesday as we warm up ahead of Thanksgiving.
The first taste of arctic air will arrive by the end of next week, into the holiday weekend.

THURSDAY TEMPERATURES
Morning

Afternoon

Rain Friday Morning to Saturday Evening
Showers will develop by afternoon, and again most will fall overnight. The end will be Saturday morning, setting us up for an improvement to follow.

Looking Ahead: Jet Stream Saturday to Thanksgiving Friday
Warmer air moving in at the end of the weekend and early next week will NOT be a blow torch, but more like push us into the 60s.
Thanksgiving may be our transition day, then the first push of arctic air arrives next Friday.
This will not hold. The full force of the arctic blast is more likely in the first week of December.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I can also make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
