The anticipation of another broad-based northern light show was less intense than round one. Clouds obscured the sky, but broke for Central Maryland to get an evening show. Then, at night, the best pictures I saw were from Garrett County, where the show was enhanced by the snow.

The storm reached G3 level with Kp up to 7.33. It did fail to match the night before, which is why the show was not as robust or widespread.
Gusty winds remain as a return to near normal with milder air.
This has changed the snow to rain showers across New York State.
There is a warm-up in the middle of the nation that will build East eventually. We have one more system that will pass to our North this weekend.

This North track clipper-type system will bring in clouds on Saturday and eventually rain Saturday night into Sunday morning.
The bulk of the rain may fall overnight, then one more push of cooler air could bring some flurries on Monday.
If we get flurries, this may be the chance in the northern hills.
A break from the early chill… I see the Jet Stream shifting the ridge Eastward and building in a warm-up next week that may last into Thanksgiving for the Eastern US.

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I can also make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site.
