June 25 Weather Stepping Down The Heat With Poor Air Quality And Strong Storms
Wednesday, June 25 2025
Yesterday the high temperature in Baltimore was 97℉, just missing the record for the date again. We did break the record for the warmest low temperature at BWI with the coolest mark of 78℉ for the day. Here is how the regional records stacked up. Note that some stations like Baltimore Inner Harbor, tend to run warmer as they are next to buildings and do not comply with NOAA standards.
BROKEN RECORD TEMPERATURES YESTERDAY
HEAT ALERTS
Central Maryland will have a step lower level as Heat Index values may remain under 105℉
Heat Advisory: Heat Index up to 105℉
Extreme Heat Warning: Heat Index up close to 110℉
AIR QUALITY ALERT
Code Orange is the focus between Baltimore and Philadelphia, as pollution tends to concentrate between the Bay and the inland hills along I-95.
NOAA SEVERE STORM RISK
There is a chance that isolated storms will reach severe levels, fueled by the high heat and humidity. These may contain damaging winds, large hail, and an isolated tornado.
Please Consider:
Children: CHECK THE BACKSEAT OF YOUR CAR! DO NOT LEAVE A KID IN THE CAR!
Pets: The pavement will be HOT as well, and paws can burn. Limit the outside time for your furry friends to early morning or evening.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
