May 26 Memorial Day Monday Weather Sun Returns Then Rain Arrives Wednesday
Monday, May 26, 2025
On this day, we honor the memory of those lost defending our nation and observe a moment of silence for Gold Star Families. The weather will improve for the ceremonies. Morning clouds across the southern parts of the region should fade and blend in with the sunny start to the north.
A chill this morning will give back to an afternoon in the 70s.
The Southern and Gulf States have a persistent storm with severe weather and flooding rain.. this will gradually advance to the north and bring us the next round of rain on Wednesday.
Morning Low Temperatures
It has been unseasonably chilly.
Morning Surface Weather
A large storm will continue to plague the Southern US with severe storms and flooding rain. The northern edge of this has sent clouds into Maryland… However, that large High Pressure to the North, which has been responsible for our chilly air, is also helping block the storm from advancing for another day.
Morning Satellite
The edge of the clouds reach Central Maryland.
Cloud Forecast 8 AM to 8 PM
Morning clouds will fade for parts of the region this afternoon.
Afternoon Focus at 4 PM
Temperatures
Still cool, but more of the region reaches the 70s.
Wind Forecast 8 AM to 8 PM
A light breeze all day is also an improvement.

This looks CHILLY, but needs to be put in perspective. This is a cool upper-level pattern, but it will be contrasted with some of the highest sun angles of the year! The trade-off will be sunny mornings, then afternoon clouds, spotty showers, and high temperatures slightly below average.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
