May 21 Flood Watch In The Mountains And Rain Timeline Today Through Tomorrow
Wednesday, May 21, 2025
Rain is moving in this morning and is expected to expand as Low Pressure develops overhead. This will come with the coastal Nor’easter, which will continue to affect us through tomorrow.
Moderate to heavy rain is expected with a break this afternoon and another round returning tonight and Thursday… when thunder may be mixed in.
School Closure:
Allegany County in Western Maryland has closed schools today. This is the area that had extensive flooding and evacuations last week and is expecting over 2 inches of new rainfall.
Flood Watch
Heavy rain is expected in the mountains over the same areas that had extensive flooding last week.
There is a Coastal Flood Advisory in Anne Arundel County. The High Tide in Annapolis is 12:30 PM, which may be a concern for the Navy Graduation and parking at the vulnerable City Docks.

The East wind will be 10 to 20 mph, gusting to 30 mph. This is the surface air flow that will feed in moisture, make coastal flooding on the Bay possible, and keep temperatures cool.
Afternoon Temperatures
At least 20 degrees cooler than average.
Radar Simulation 8 AM to 8 PM
Moderate to heavy this morning, we’ll see a lull around Noon to 2 PM, then another round of rain and thunderstorms after 7 PM.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
