February 27 Warm With Rain Showers Then Cooling Into The Weekend
February 27 2025
Thursday Morning Report
Baltimore hit 66ºF again yesterday, and we have one more warm day in this stretch today. The change will be rain showers with a cold front. These will be spotty and not nearly enough to make a dent in our continued drought!
I want to start with a look at the active rain on radar. Forecast maps are below.
Live Radar Widget
Cooler winds will follow into the weekend. The mountains will get a snow refresher with showers of up to 2 inches.
Next week will be active in a different way. The first severe storm outbreak may erupt in the South and some of that energy will help us get heavier rain and maybe a thunderstorm on Wednesday.

Morning Surface Weather
The storm system today will bring rain showers and then a wind shift, marking the return of cooler air.
Morning Temperatures
MUCH WARMER temperatures have spread into the Southeast US. A noticeable cool down across the Northern Plains is what will head our way into the weekend.
Local Morning Temperatures
Radar Simulation: 7 AM to Midnight
Rain showers will end with a distinct line and that cold front. This will be more pronounced on the Eastern Shore. Behind this a few hours with snow showers of an inch or two in the mountains.
Snapshot at Noon
A thin band of rain crosses central Maryland during lunchtime.
Snapshot at 3 PM
That line of rain will grow larger and last longer on the Eastern Shore.
Wind Forecast
A shift of wind with the line of rain will mark the new cooler air mass moving in.

NEXT WEEK
Monday to Wednesday
The next storm will arrive with a band of heavy rain possible on Wednesday.
Snapshot Wednesday
This may include thunderstorms as energy from a severe storm outbreak in the south feeds up the cold front.
Jet Stream Forecast: Wed Mar 5 Sun Mar 9
The active pattern will push routine colder air in during the first week of March. There is no guarantee of winter weather, but there is a good chance we have to watch closely as spring is not fully here yet.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region. One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky. There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
