November 10 Cooler Rain On The Way By Tonight Followed By Chilly Air Mid Week
November 10, 2024
Sunday Morning Report
We are about to get some much-needed rain today across much of the Eastern US. Our record stretch of dry days will end with a decent soaking of the ground as we get our rain by evening through overnight. It will not end our drought, but many areas may see 1/2 inch of rainfall.
We could see some sprinkles this morning, which are showing up on the radar. However, the real rain is more likely to fall after dark tonight in metro and eastern areas.
In this report, we will see the rain forecast and live radar widget. For a change, we will also see a week ahead with temperatures actually cooler than average for a couple of days.
Baltimore Drought Update
- No Measurable Rain Since October 2nd = 39 Days!
- There was a ‘trace’ on October 4th and November 1st.
- Rainfall DOWN -6.99” since Sep 1
Temperatures at 7 AM
Live Radar Widget
This is set in a sensitive mode and may show rain this morning that is not reaching the ground.
Morning Surface Weather
Clouds are filling in ahead of this new weather system. The rain is expected to reach most of our region by evening and then fall overnight.
Part of the reason we will get rain with the cold front this time after the last few faded away is the added moisture from Tropical Storm Rafael. That storm is still in the Gulf of Mexico and may be downgraded today, but it did feed some of the rain getting pulled inland ahead of that front.
The record snowstorm that dumped several feet of snow in Colorado and New Mexico has ended. However, colder air will push eastward behind this cold front, setting us up for a chill midweek.
Afternoon Forecast Temperatures
With the clouds filling in, today may feel cooler than yesterday, even though it will be a little milder.

Suggested Total Rainfall
Some positivity in the modeling has been a trend to bring in higher rain totals. This will not end the drought, but more areas will be in the range near or above half an inch by Monday afternoon when this ends.
Morning Lows
Afternoon Highs
A clearing sky should allow the sun to bring us back to a mild afternoon. The colder air will arrive a day later.
7 Day Forecast
After this rain passes, we get one warm day, then a flip to a few days with cooler-than-average temperatures. One more shot at showers on Thursday, then near ‘normal’ to end the week.

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
