October 2 Cool and Damp Morning And Weather For Orioles Hosting Game 2
Wednesday October 2, 2024
Morning Report
The remaining energy from Helene is off the coast and helping to hold drizzle and fog in place for another morning. This pattern is slow to improve, but it will gradually. Today some left over showers with temps still below average but getting closer to 70ºF.
The Baltimore Orioles host the Royals for the second game of the playoffs, with the first pitch at 4:30 PM. The game will get in! It will feel humid, with temperatures closer to 70ºF. A spotty shower is still possible.
The pattern will break with more sun tomorrow, and we are still on pace for a sunny and warm weekend.
The Tropical Outlook holds a 40% chance for development, but the forecast models do not show much organization with the heavy rain heading toward Florida.
Coastal Flood Advisory
Annapolis’s next high tide will be this evening. High water is expected, but not as much as the last few days.

Showers will be more widespread this morning, then break up to be spotty this afternoon.
Morning Surface Weather
The remaining circulation is spinning off the East Coast, but the broad upper-level pattern has stagnant dampness across the Mid-Atlantic.
We remain with low level moisture that has fog and drizzle. The Showers are spotty and there will be ice instigation from the slow-moving cold front in the mountains.

Afternoon Temperatures
It will be cool and damp… But the Orioles game should be on time.

Rain Simulation: 8 AM to 8 PM
Still some spotty showers, but not as rainy.
Afternoon High
If we do get some sun to break out, that will help boost temps into the mid-70s.
Tropical Outlook From National Hurricane Center
NOTE: It is IMPOSSIBLE to plot a tropical event BEFORE there is a central Low Pressure identified and plotted on a map. So, any forecast tracks you may have seen are bogus.
As of this morning, there is still only a 40% chance that ‘something’ will develop in the NEXT 7 DAYS! This is the same region where Helene came from, and still NOT the same thing!!!!

RESTATING MY MESSAGE ABOUT DYSLEXIA
I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos and occasional other glitches. I take responsibility for my mistakes and even the computer glitches I may miss. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here, you may have missed it: I have dyslexia and found out during my second year at Cornell University. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree and being the first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
One of my professors told me that I had made it that far without knowing and to not let it be a crutch going forward. That was Mark Wysocki, and he was absolutely correct! I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse. I also can make mistakes in forecasting. No one is perfect at predicting the future. All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There has been no editor who can check my work while writing and to have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline. Barbara Werner is a member of the web team that helps me maintain this site. She has taken it upon herself to edit typos when she is available. That could be AFTER you read this. I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me… It’s part of my charm. #FITF
