June 3 2019
The last round of storms that blew through was with a cold front. The local map was littered with sever storm reports, dominated by large hail. That was in response to the colder air moving in now. Many hail reports were well over there 1 inch criteria for severe storms. A few hail stones near the Potomac River and into northern Virginia were up to 1.75 inches. That is about the size of a golf ball!
Lighting struck a pavilion in Leesylvania State Park. One person was struck and four others had debris fall on them.

We are now under the influence of a Canadian air mass and that will dominate the flow for the next one to two weeks. We will have some warm days, but overall temperatures will be running below normal. At least we hold off the rain until mid week.

Temperature Outlook
I’ve highlighted all of the temperatures in the 70s
Cool June
The Jet Stream (500 mb Heigh Anomaly) shows a primarily cool pattern for the next two weeks. We will have a warm up next weekend, but the main flow of air from central Canada appears to be with us as shown in blue through June 18.
