Thursday Morning Update
We have a cool start to the day with sunshine across the region. If you had rain yesterday, there may be early fog, but that will burn off. Overall, we have a nice day ahead!
I have been trying to remain optimistic about the weekend, but the trend has continued to bring in some rain, especially for the beaches on Saturday. Then we increase the storm risk by Sunday evening into Monday. So there will be dry hours in between if you let me sugar coat this.
Last night the Geomagnetic Storm peaked at Kp 6, meaning minimal chance to see the aurora locally. Yes, I am aware that we often end up underperforming with these events However, thanks to an online group I was able to gather a few photos of the Northern Lights last night. Take a look…

Here the GFS Model shows the cluster of rain across Southern Maryland to the beaches to start the weekend. Variable clouds and some showers may reach into central Maryland.
There will be improving through much of Sunday. Then we watch for late day and evening storms to arrive from the west.
Again: Most of Sunday should be OK.
Then we have that weather system bring more showers and storms through Monday.

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:
I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell. It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.
I do miss mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.
All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.
There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.
I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…
It’s part of my charm.
