August 14 Enjoy Today As We Shift To Cooler Showers By Tomorrow

August 14 2022

Sunday Morning Update

A band of clouds rolled in overnight. Depending on your location, they are still hanging around but departing to the east this morning, or you already cleared out inland.

The next band of clouds will build from the west and bring the mountains showers later today. Metro areas will cloud up later on, with rain arriving tonight and Monday.

We do not expect a lot of rain. But the pattern will definitely shift as temps will end up much cooler to start the work week.

Morning Surface Weather

It will be a nice day, even if you are in the cloud cover by the Bay and Delmarva to the beaches this morning. It will clear out soon.

Farther west, the next system will bring rain showers to the mountains during the afternoon. The same system will increase the clouds for metro areas dimming the sun this afternoon.

Morning Temperatures

Very comfortable across the region.

A few more areas have reported 50s north and west of Baltimore than shown here.  Temps will warm quickly with the sun returning.

Afternoon Temperatures

Rain By Evening

While this shows a snapshot for this evening, recent events have verified rain arriving earlier. Plan for afternoon showers between McHenry and Hagerstown. Clouds will dim the sun from Frederick to Baltimore during the afternoon and evening.

The beaches should remain nice (after the morning clouds clear).

Monday Temperatures

Morning

Afternoon

Notice the 60s just inland from the cities…

While this shows 77ºF over Baltimore, most of the area will range between 66ºF to 73ºF, making it feel like a cool afternoon.

7 Day Forecast

I posted the 77ºF on Monday for Baltimore, but most of our region will likely be in the upper 60s to lower 70s. I may have an update this evening with the rain expectation. If I see the trend continue, I will lower my call for temps…

Another cool day Tuesday, then back to pleasant weather mid-week.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  It didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
