Sunday Morning Report

We have a wonderful start to this last weekend in April. But before we take a look at the wild highs, let’s go back to yesterday and see how warm it got.  The expectation of a wide spread lived up on the map, and a slight shift in the air mass will give a hint at today.

Saturday’s High Temperatures

  • 60s by the Bay and most of Delmarva… With the exception of a small warmer region better Easton and Salisbury.
  • 70s from Baltimore and most westward..
  • 80s in the mountains by Cumberland and central to southern Virginia.

Morning Set Up

Surface Weather

Wide View

A Blizzard has been raging across the Northern Plains…

The cold front in the MidWest will spark some storms, but well ahead of it will try to push warm air father east today.

Closer View

A stationary front is defining the separation from chilly and warm air yesterday. That boundary will still be in our region today, but should get a push a little farther east… But The Chesapeake Bay will still provide local cooling.

Temperatures

Mild Morning

Afternoon Highs

It will be close to 80ºF close to Baltimore. I am pushing for that mark, but it will be more likely farther inland.

Look into central and southern Virgina… Temps will soar into the upper 80s and lower 90s!!! That is SUMMER HEAT!

Delmarva and coastal areas will remain chilly.

CLIMATE DATA

Monday Weather

Let’s first look at the winds from Sunday afternoon through Monday..

Here we can see that eatery wind try this afternoon, and then dominate on Monday. That will knock temp down a little (again).

Morning Temperatures

Afternoon Temperatures

Thanks to the wind, it will be much cooler…

There should be more clouds and we may see sprinkles develop that don’t show up on radar.

Tuesday Showers

This is the day that cold front should arrive with a chance for spotty rain.  The risk of storms will be low…

The air that follows will be chilly! Thursday morning will bring another regional Frost!

I will have more on the chilly end to April and outlook in my evening report.

7 Day Forecast

The rain Tuesday will be followed by possible Frost Thursday morning.

*Disclaimer due to frequent questions:

I am aware there are some spelling and grammar typos. I have made a few public statements over the years, but if you are new here you may have missed it:

I have dyslexia, and found out at my second year at Cornell.  I didn’t stop me from getting my meteorology degree, and being first to get the AMS CBM in the Baltimore/Washington region.

I do miss my mistakes in my own proofreading. The autocorrect spell check on my computer sometimes does an injustice to make it worse.

All of the maps and information are accurate. The ‘wordy’ stuff can get sticky.

There is no editor that can check my work when I need it and have it ready to send out in a newsworthy timeline.

I accept this and perhaps proves what you read is really from me…

It’s part of my charm.
