Heavy Rain And More Flooding Through The Weekend

Heavy Rain And More Flooding Through The Weekend

May 16 2018

We are stuck in this pattern for a few days. The good news is that the severe storm threat is very low today, but more heavy rain is expected.  The combination of a stalled front over our region and a tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico is funneling rainfall our way.  Today alone we could see 1 to 3 inches in spots. Through this weekend, a larger swatch of 5 to 7 inches of rain is possible.

Below is a look at the weather pattern. I will follow up later this morning with a look at the recent flooding in Frederick, that received up to 6 inches of rain yesterday alone.. I received plenty of video, but too much of it had bad language that I need to edit out.  I understand the shock and frustration. Let’s hope we avoid the worst of it, but please prepare and take this seriously. If you see flooded roads, DO NOT TRY TO CROSS. TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN

The stationary/cold front is just to our south, allowing us to remain with the cooler easterly wind flow today. That holds temps down. The tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico is pumping moisture north and funneling it into Maryland.
