May The 4th Be With Another Record High And Severe Storms

May 4 2018

Today will bring the trifecta of record high temperatures to Baltimore and much of the region. This will be the last day of heat and it come with more humidity, clouds, and finish with strong thunderstorms. There is a slight risk of severe storms as a cold front taps into the energy this afternoon and evening. Often the storms peak in the mountains and weekend as they approach central Maryland. We still need to watch this pulse and even if not severe when they reach you, there will be lightning, thunder, and some heavy rain. See the timeline below.

Sadly our weekend wil have more rain, but not a complete washout.  There will be some showers left over Saturday morning, and after dry hours mid day, more rain returns in the afternoon. Two more radar simulations below to help you plan. The timing of this might be critical for your event, but thought to pin down now. This is because of sub tropical moisture from the Bahamas that will develop a storm off of the coast. That will not reach us, but is stalling the front. So we could keep showers around on Sunday.
