Another Round Of Storms Then A Quiet Week Ahead

Another Round Of Storms Then A Quiet Week Ahead

Saturday August 12

We started the day with a Tornado Warning in Talbot County Maryland as a storm tracked onshore Tilghman Island near Oxford, Trappe, and Cambridge.  I was posted updates on Facebook and Twitter, and I want to thank everyone who shared their reports. No confirmation yet, but no rest for the weary as we could have another round of strong storms later today. Overall, the day will be cloudy and remain wet for the Lower Eastern Shore and the beaches. It will be west in the mountains that we watch for storms to erupt this evening.

There is a marginal risk storms will turn severe, which means most storms will not. However the timing pushes the main threat into central Maryland and around the Bay tonight.  The risk includes damaging winds and flash flooding.

Rainfall outlook shows the bulk of wet weather will be along the coastline

Quiet Week Ahead?

That’s what it looks like. There may be a disturbance with spotty showers at times, but overall this is the best news we could ask for as my team embarks on the 4th Maryland Trek for Cool Kids Campaign. Please see the link below. My focus will be on the trek over the next week so there will be plenty of stories as we honor kids fighting cancer.  We will be hiking and biking a minimum of 41 miles each day for a full week.

On Sunday August 13 my team will join me for my 4th 329 mile hike and bike across Maryland. We will start on the summit of Wisp and do a minimum of 41 miles each day.  The weather always is a factor so I will begin to focus on our route each day. At this point, the threat of rain may be with us through early next week, but statewide we should be quiet and cool next Wednesday through Friday. Those are the days we travel from Frederick through central Maryland and then on to the Eastern Shore and finish in Ocean City on Saturday August 19.

Donations now being accepted. Please select “Cool Kids Campaign” in the options to add to our entire team’s total.

Milestones this year:

  • I will do my 1000th mile on Day 1 in Garrett County
  • We aim to reach $100,000 for Cool Kids Campaign for the entire event.
